Heather was born in New York City, but because her dad was in the Navy, she grew up literally around the world. She has lived in the Northeast and Southeast, and she went to high school in California, Massachusetts, Japan and West Germany. While growing up, her family had Boston terriers, a stray cat that adopted them, and other rescued animals. Heather was a teacher for many years, and she worked as a Health and Safety Instructor for the American Red Cross. NWVH is a much-needed change of pace for her after working in an urgent care facility.
A dog person, Heather has owned and loved three cats in her lifetime, and currently has a dog. They share their home with four generations of her family, including her mother, her middle daughter, who is a pre-school teacher, and her one-year-old granddaughter. Her husband, a PT assistant, and her youngest son, who is in the Army National Guard, round out the family. In her free time, she loves hiking, arts and crafts, gardening, camping and cooking.
