Acupuncture
You’ve probably heard about acupuncture treatments for humans, but did you know that this ancient medical art also has a proven track record of improving pet quality of life as well?
Acupuncture
We’re thrilled to be able to offer acupuncture as part of our comprehensive and holistic suite of services.
How does acupuncture work exactly? And how might it benefit your pet?
Acupuncture stimulates specific points near, or just under, the surface of your pet’s skin to stimulate receptors that, in turn, send signals to the brain to release endorphins and serotonin. These chemicals then help relieve pain, stress, and inflammation.
Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions, including:
- Arthritis
- Chronic neck, back, or knee pain
- Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
- Anorexia and appetite loss
- Asthma
- Inflammatory bowel disease and other GI issues
- Nerve conditions
And rest assured, acupuncture is nearly painless and extremely safe. The needles we use are single-use, very thin, flexible stainless steel and cause minimal discomfort on insertion. In fact, many pets find acupuncture so relaxing, they often fall asleep during their sessions.
